The function of the engine rocker arm is to introduce the combustible mixture (or fresh air) into the cylinder, and then compress the combustible mixture (or fresh air) into the cylinder. When the compression is near the end, the combustible mixture is ignited (or the diesel high pressure is injected into the cylinder to form the combustible mixture and ignite it), the combustible mixture is on fire and burned, and the expansion pushes the piston down to achieve external work. Finally, the exhaust gas after combustion is discharged.

 

The valve rocker arm is a two-arm lever, with the rocker arm shaft as the fulcrum, and the two arms are unequal in length. The short arm end is machined with a threaded hole for screwing in the valve clearance adjustment screw. The long arm end is machined into an arc surface, which is the working face of the pushing valve.

 

Rocker seat is a component of the intake and exhaust mechanism in an overhead valve engine. The intake and exhaust mechanism is composed of camshaft, tappet, rocker arm, rocker arm shaft, rocker arm seat, valve, valve spring and other parts. The opening and closing of the valve are completed by the tappet and rocker arm action. The rocker arm is installed on the rocker arm seat through the rocker arm shaft. One end is driven from the camshaft through the tappet, and the other end is pushed on the valve rod and acts with the spring to control the opening and closing of the valve.

 

The valve rocker arms need to be connected by a metal connecting rod, and the CAM pushes the connecting rod to push the rocker arm to realize the opening and closing of the valve. But too high speed is easy to cause the top rod to break, so this design is mainly used in large displacement, low speed, the pursuit of large torque output engine. The camshaft overhead can omit the jacking rod to simplify the camshaft to valve transmission mechanism, more suitable for the engine at high speed power performance, the overhead camshaft is widely used.
